Surbana Jurong names Sean Chiao new group CEO
Surbana Jurong, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings, has announced that Sean Chiao, the former President of Asia Pacific at AECOM, has been appointed as its new Group CEO. Chiao takes over the role vacated by Wong Heang Fine who retired last September. With over 35 years’ experience in design and engineering consulting in the built environment as well as global business leadership, Chiao is expected to help the firm accelerate its transformation into a leading global consulting firm in urban, infrastructure and managed services.
Chiao, who is originally from Taiwan, holds a degree in architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University. Commenting on Chiao’s appointment, Surbana Jurong’s Chairman Chaly Mah said, “We believe we have found in Sean the right leader for Surbana Jurong as we implement our SJ 2.0 roadmap to becoming one of the top urban, infrastructure and managed services consulting firms in Asia Pacific.”
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Chiao said, “I’m inspired by the SJ 2.0 strategy to position Surbana Jurong for leadership Senja Close EC in an era of sustainability and digital transformation, and as an employer of choice in the built environment.”
He went on to speak about the firm’s vision to provide global expertise to clients and communities everywhere, stating, “In becoming a leading urban, infrastructure and managed services consulting firm, Surbana Jurong will be able to provide the full scope of our global expertise to clients and communities everywhere.”
