CDL celebrates 60th anniversary

To mark its 60th anniversary, City Developments Limited (CDL) showcased its diamond jubilee with an event at Orchard Hotel Singapore on Sept 5. CDL’s executive chairman, Kwek Leng Beng, spoke on the development of the group from 1969 when he and his late father, Kwek Hong Png, bought a block of CDL shares.

Today, CDL is a global real estate company spanning 5 continents with $31 billion worth of assets and 8,000 employees. Its hospitality arm, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, has grown from one establishment to more than 155 across the globe.

Sherman Kwek, CDL’s group CEO, expressed appreciation for the past and present leaders, and spoke of CDL’s core values of collaboration, integrity and innovation. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Lawrence Wong, also attended the celebration as a special guest of honor.
