Publicly listed real estate company Far East Orchard completed the second stage of its acquisition of Homes For Students (HFS), a leading student accommodation provider in the United Kingdom (UK). With this move, Far East Orchard has raised its interest in HFS to 84%.The initial agreement for the acquisition of 49% of HFS was announced in April 2024, for a total of GBP17.6 million. The stake was acquired from two non-management sellers.AdvertisementThe first stage of the phased acquisition, which saw Far East Orchard acquiring about 35% of the stake for GBP25 million, was successfully completed, raising the company’s interest in HFS to 84%. As a result, HFS is now a subsidiary of Far East Orchard.HFS operates over 55,000 beds in more than 55 university towns and cities in the UK and Ireland. The company provides an integrated student accommodation management and facilities management service.Far East Orchard has plans to acquire the remaining stake in HFS by November 2030.On Sept 30, shares in Far East Orchard closed 1 cent lower or 0.794% down at $1.25. This follows the recent news of Savills expanding its Apac capital markets team with the addition of a senior director who will be focused on living sectors.
