Accor, the global hospitality group, has made a giant leap in the extended stay market, becoming the largest outside of the US, with 45,000 keys across more than 380 extended stay properties and 14 brands.
Accor’s flagship aparthotel brand Adagio celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2023 with 11 new properties, while Novotel Living, an extension of midscale hotel brand Novotel, has seen recent expansions in Bangkok, Saigon, Kazakhstan, Singapore, China, and more.
Jean-Jacques Morin, Accor Deputy CEO and Premium, Midscale and Economy Division CEO, commented, “With new travel habits taking hold and more people seeking out longer stays, Accor has continued to do what we do best – lead the markets where we have deep roots, strong relationships and a powerful presence – such as Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.”
Travelers are taking longer trips, a trend that has been a key factor for Accor’s extended stay growth.
“The escalation of demand for extended stay properties is a global phenomenon, driven by a demographic shift among travellers who are taking longer trips, mixing business with leisure, and exploring destinations more fully,” said Morin.
Accor’s extended stay portfolio includes brands such as Novotel Living, Mercure Living, Swissôtel Living, Mövenpick Living, Fairmont, Sofitel, Mondrian, Hyde and The Sebel. The group also has 33,000 private villas, apartments, and branded residences operated in rental programmes.
For the future, Accor has more extended stay properties in the pipeline, including new locations for Novotel Living, as well as luxury serviced apartment projects such as the 250-key Sofitel Serviced Residences Riyadh, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
With the extended stay market going from strength to strength, Accor is well-positioned to service any kind of traveler, with an “unmatched” portfolio of brands. From luxe to budget accommodations, it has a range of options to meet different needs.
