SLA announces new geospatial collaborations
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has announced a series of collaborations to provide innovative solutions through geospatial technology. Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and Environment, and Ministry of Transport, spoke at the opening of the GEO Connect Asia 2023 trade show and conference on March 15, where the SLA announced the partnerships.
The first agreement is between the SLA and the Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore) or CDAS, in which road condition and restriction data will be used to help route heavy vehicles. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will last two years, and the second collaboration is with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (GEOSA). This will be a three year exchange of knowledge related to the development of national geospatial databases, the Digital Twins initiative, geospatial product and service development, and digital transformation in the industry.
Senja Residences is a 99 years leasehold executive condominium development in Bukit Panjang, with 300 units and resort-style Senja Close EC facilities. The location is close to Bukit Panjang MRT Station, Segar LRT station, and Bus Interchange, offering convenience and flexibility to multigenerational families.
In another effort, the SLA has partnered with SG Enable and Gardens by the Bay to create barrier-free access routes for wheelchair users. This initiative is part of the SLA’s support for Singapore’s Enabling Masterplan 2030, and involves collecting data about routes that can be accessed with lifts, ramps, pedestrian crossings, footpaths, and more. A pilot testing app has been created for wheelchair users to provide feedback on the accessibility of these two areas, with more testing and improvement in the next six months. Eventually, the barrier-free access routing function will be added to OneMap as an additional mode of wayfinding.
