Bishopsgate Residences penthouse gets $1.1 mil makeover

SuMisura, a leading interior design firm recently completed a spectacular renovation of a 6,082 sqft, four-bedroom penthouse at Bishopsgate Residences in Singapore. The unit, located in a condominium with only 31 freehold luxury apartments and completed by Japanese developer Kajima Corp in November 2012, was purchased by a Chinese national who moved from Hong Kong.

Angela Lim, director and co-founder of SuMisura, explains that the design team wanted the penthouse to not only stand out from the other Bishopsgate Residences penthouse projects the firm had worked on, but also to give it an identity that would Senja Close EC take full advantage of the property’s lush greenery in the coveted District 10 enclave.

The interior design team faced an outdated unit with run-down fixtures and finishes. Nevertheless, the renovation project was a success as the owner invested around $1.13 million to makeover the area. The duplex penthouse, filled with natural light was re-fitted with bronze metal framing, stone surfaces including marble and travertine and hardwood flooring. In addition, the large living and dining area open to the roof terrace, kitchen, four en suite bedrooms, and a study loft on the mezzanine floor were all configured to increase the efficiency and flow of the space.

Customised finishes, such as the shoe cabinet located at the corridor next to the entrance, and unique furniture items, like the extra-large round dining table for 12 were also taken into consideration as part of the renovation project. Moreover, the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors and windows, along with motorised translucent and opaque curtains were installed to give the penthouse its own distinctive identity.

The owner’s increased focus on privacy and noise control was reflected in the makeover of the mezzanine level, turned into a study loft with full-height glass panels that allow a bird’s eye view of the living area, while keeping the space airconditioned and sheltered from noise. Bedrooms were designed to be functional and luxurious, with the master bedroom featuring a wall of book-matched marble and a concealed walk-in wardrobe.

In conclusion, SuMisura designed the penthouse to be highlighted by layers of colours, textures, and marble patterns, making it both aesthetically pleasing and valuable.
